Barneys is having further discounts on their sale items!

(the product links at Barneys online store get changed frequently, I’ll do my best to update the links, but if you see a link going to a wrong product, that’s probably because of the changes Barneys made)

Here’re some of my favorites:

Manolo Blahnik Pumamod in red, from previous sale price of $420 to $320

The beautiful Meredetba in both Silver and Black, from $1050 to $680

Christian Louboutin Simple Pump in rapsberry with 100mm heel, from $550 to $345 (this is the perfect red shoe with red sole if you can handle the chop-stick heels!)

And Siver Sacha, from $830 to $495.

A few more words on Barneys – their online customer service has improved significantly since the last time I made a purchase. They’ve been very responsive to my emails and actually went out of their way to find answers to my questions. I’m pleasantly surprised! Kudos to Barneys!

On Saturday I watched Kungfu Panda in the theatre. It felt great to laugh uncontrollably for one and a half hours with everyoneelse around me. The screams, laughs or even cries from the kids added more fun to the film. I truly hope there’ll be a sequel to this one. The only little bit of disappointment I had is that, the five students of Shifu (each of them being a different animal) lacked personality – I was expecting them to have more dialogues and more interactions with the Panda. But, it’s a short (and sweet) film, I guess it’s not easy to squeeze everything in.

If you have kids of any age, here’re some fun Kungfu Panda items they may enjoy. For the babies, there’re the plush toys of Panda and the other five Kungfu students. For pre-schoolers, there’s the Kung Fu Kickin’ PO or Dream Works Kung Fu Panda ROCK ‘EM SOCK ‘EM Fighting Game that’s full of action.

For the game-savvy folks, the Kungfu Panda game comes in Wii and Xbox versions (as well as playstation and PC versions). And for those parents who like to plan early, the Kungfu Panda costume can already be pre-ordered at multiple stores.

Vivre is having a 30% off sale for all Anya Hindmarch items. The Anya Hindmarch online store is also having its own 40% sale, but at this time only open to those who have an account at the online store.

I’m quite smitten by this five-stone raffia clutch at Vivre, somehow it brings back all the happy memories associated with Summer. I can see myself walking on the Maldives beaches with this cutie.

It’s Friday, so look at this clutch and feel happy!

Officedesigns.com is having a sale on Herman Miller furniture. Too bad I bought this Herman Miller Nelson Swag Leg Armchair (from $379 to $341.1) earlier this year. But it’s a really good piece of furniture, comfy and nice looking, even comes with a Herman Miller authenticity certificate. (when do you ever get authenticity certificates with $300 purchase??).

Some further discounted items from Net-A-Porter:

Bottega Veneta Silk Bustier Dress, from $4550 to $3412.50 set price alert.

Jimmy Choo Dessy Weekend Bag, from $1075 to $645 set price alert.

Emilio Pucci Swarovski Crystal Embellished Flip-flops, from $230 to $172.50 set price alert.

Bags, shoes, skirts…are on sale at Marni’s virtual store.  Somehow this candy-colored patent leather shopping bag ($1100 to $770) looks so appetizing!

Also take a look at the Burberry online sale, there’re some wearable items like the blue sateen scuba dress (from $1695 to $849) from Burberry Prorsum. I personally think this Taffetta Dress (from $950 to $599) is a pretty good deal.

Don’t let this Donna Karan Collection Plunge V-neck Dress get away!! It’s a return (yes it was sold out last week), most likely only one available for purchase, in size Small. The original price was $1295, now it’s $769.  Good deal.  The ratio between exposed and unexposed area is just right :)

Also want to tell you guys about the Brian Atwood Slingback in Aqua at footcandyshoes.com.  It’s been on sale for a while (from $825 to $300) and is still available in size 7. If you have the guts to walk in these 4.75″heels, go ahead and grab them!

The Zac Posen Sunset Silk Dress became on sale this morning from $1500 to $1049. I love its Impressionist style, Zac Posen is such a genius!

Max Mara Corsaro Skirt is on further discount at $159. This skirt has been sold out (and returned) several times already – I’ve watched it disappear and reappear in my price alert emails.  Several different sizes are avaialbe at this moment, which makes me think there’s got to be something wrong with this skirt, otherwise why would all these people return it?

I can’t believe Saks still has Brian Atwood Trina d’Orsay (from $795 to $555.90) available in my size!

These shoes will go well with Brian Atwood Daphne Metallic Clutch and a simple black dress like this Fendi Ruched Tank Dress (from $1100 to $715).

Looks like the good sale stuff are mostly gone at Neiman Marcus. I’m still waiting to see if I can get some great deals in the end. That’s what price alerts are for, isn’t it? :)

Bottega Veneta’s online private sale starts. I didn’t see anything particularly interesting from the listed sale items.

But there’s a Kawaii print tote I loved from their summer catalog, it’s so sweet and summer-like. I’m going to find out whether it’s also on sale.

Also looks like Net-A-Porter adjusted sale prices on some items by $0.50, what’s up with that??

Like this Proenza Schouler Bustier Dress, it was $1396.00 when sale started, now it’s $1396.50.

On the other hand, those Miu Miu Flower Motif Flats, went from $338.00 (sale price) to $337.50.

If this was due to change in currency exchange rates, shouldn’t them all go down by $0.50 or all go up by $0.50?

Lazy People Like Us

May 27th, 2008

I know I’m one of those lazy people.

Last weekend when I was circling the women’s shoe section at Nordstrom, a sales associate approached me and asked “Would you like to apply for a Nordstrom card and save 20%?” My answer was “Not today.”  Actually I meant, not any day.  Fill out a two-sided form and wait at least 15 minutes for her to verify all the information? That’s too much!

I’ve always (secretly) envied a girl friend in the office. Every time I see her, she’s immaculately coiffeured like just coming out of a hair salon. One day at lunch I asked her what it would take for me to look like that. She said, “Oh, get up 45 minutes early in the morning.”  Oh, I guess I’d rather stay in bed for 45 minutes extra and have bad hair.

If I can save money or look good without lifting a finger, that’s great!  Otherwise it’s too much work.

According to Andy Sernovitz, “laziness is actually an amazingly powerful marketing force”.  So our goal at ShoppingNotes is to make it a great place for lazy people like you and me. Stay tuned for our “lazier” new features……
