Who’s Wearing Christian Louboutin?
May 19th, 2008
I’ve been in search of a pair of sandals. I wanted something simple, something I can wear to work everyday. Preferably it would be one of these platform sandals, which will give me a little height while being more comfortable than the heels. I started the search early in February, when summer is still months away. I thought this would give me enough time to find a good pair, so I won’t have to wear sneakers even in the hottest days like I did in 2007.
I did a lot of search online; I looked through almost every single pair of platform sandals on Zappos.com. I tried not to limit my budget, from $40 to $400, if I see something I like, I would “Add To Cart” right away.
But I couldn’t find anything.
I guess there’s no law that really prohibits me from wearing my beloved J.Crew flip-flops in the office. When I visited the high tech companies in Taiwan, I actually saw a lot of programmers had flip-flops under their desks. But somehow I feel wearing flip-flops to work is like wearing a tube top to work, and I don’t see that happening to me any time soon.
What about the 4 inch heels then? I think all women can be divided into two categories, the natural born heel-wearers, like Carrie Bradshaw, and those who’re not, like me. Maybe I have some kind of disability that I don’t know about. Fortunately I don’t work for the devil who wears prada, there’s no reason for me to kill my feet (or myself if god forbid these heels make me fall) wearing these heels all day long and everyday.
Perhaps I should write to Manolo like this woman did and ask him what I should do. There are a zillion choices of sandals out there, they’re just not for me.
I still love Manoloes and Louboutins, but they’ll reside in my Shoppingnotes only for the time being.
